Recently, we advertised the photography competition organised by the Troodos UNESCO Geopark which aimed to raise awareness of the different locations and activities which take place in the Geopark.
We are very proud to announce that two of the top places were taken by members from our beloved Orasis Photo Club!
Over 170 photographs were submitted to this competition and 50 photographs were selected to be included in a digital album which will be used to promote the Geopark worldwide. We are pleased to let you know that additional photos from our members were selected to feature in the digital album! You can visit the Facebook page of the Geopark to see the selected photos. Once the official digital album is created, we will share it with you on our site.
Congratulations to both Panayiotis Paschalides and Katy Parks who won 2nd and 3rd place respectively! You can see their winning images below.

Congratulations also to our other members who had photos included in the digital album!

Even though our official birthday was on the 15th April, we still arranged for our annual bowling social to celebrate our 2nd birthday (even if we were a tiny bit late) at the Alien Bowling Alley in MYMALL, Limassol.
We had a fantastic turnout and our members took the opportunity to snap some photos of other members and guests in action while they were playing, capturing some incredible candid moments of glory and embarrasment!
Special thanks goes out to Margarita Constantinou for making our birthday cake again this year which of course did not disappoint :)
Following our bowling session we made our way to Rosy's Club in Limassol old town which is where we will be holding our Kareoke party next month! This was considered as a practice run to get a feel for our new venue and try out their sound system.
All we can say is we can't wait for the Kareoke party as the venue is absolutely incredible! See you all again for our next social very soon!
The Omodos Cross Xenion Race was organised for the first time 3 years ago by the “The Xenios Xenofontos Charity foundation” and has proven to be an extremely successful event ever since. For the past 3 years, Orasis Photo Club has been supporting the Omodos Cross Xenion Race which takes place in Omodos by capturing the event through our member's lenses and providing the photographs to the organizers free of charge.
This charity race is held in loving memory of Xenios Xenofontos, (the brother of our dear member Maria Xenofontos who is also a Founding Member of the club) who sadly passed away from cancer.
This event is held in cooperation with the the Municipal Council of Omodos, Periklis Demetriou, Dro. Me. A Racing and Omodos High School with the aim to raise money for underprivileged students of Omodos High School.
Taking a look back to 2015, being asked to be a part of this worthy cause was an honor and a privilege. Our club was also newly founded at the time and this was an exciting opportunity for us to get involved with some sports photography and learn from the more experienced members.
If you would like to see the photos taken from this year as well as the previous years where we covered the event, please visit our albums on our Facebook Group as well as the Omodos Cross Xenion Page where our members shared their photos directly.
Thank you once again to the organisers for providing us with this opportunity to help by using a medium we are so passionate about - photography.
